The Winter Olympic Mascots in VancouverThe 2010 Winter Olympic Games opened Friday night in Vancouver, British Columbia with a rousing Opening Ceremony that didn´t quite match the pegeantry of Beijing, but did a fine job of capturing the essence of Canada. Thanks for a fantastic opening, to all guests, artists & performers, athletes, and to Canada.
1. Vancouver organizers had planned for four Olympic cauldrons to be lit by Canada´s most famous athletes, but a mechanical error prevented one of the massive torches from rising from the floor of British Columbia Place.

Well known singers, Bryan Adams and Nelly Furtado on the opening ceremony in BC Place.
K. D. Lang sang well the song of Leonard Cohen´s Hallelujah.
