US President Obama in Oslo, Norway for Nobel Peace Prize

Air Force One is ready for take off at around 10:45am, Friday morning in Oslo Gardermoen Airport on December 11, 2009. The Norwegian Policemen are on guard.

US President Barack Obama waves goodbye with a sweet smile to the people of Norway.

And farewell to you who invited us, accompanied us back to the airport, welcome us and gave me a historic moment and a very important award. Now, I have to show Norway and the world that I deserve this award. As the demonstrators says: Obama, you won it, now earn it! Yes, you can.

Nobel Institute Chairman Torbjørn Jagland and the Director of the Nobel Institute Geir Lundestad are waiting patiently with the Secret Service around, for the departure of US President Barack Obama and Michelle.

Here they are, waiting for the Air Force One to get ready for Mr. & Mrs. Obama.

Barack Obama waving for the last time to the people waving back in Carl Johan, on their way to the airport at 9:50am, Friday. A picture speaks louder than words! ):

The Police in Chief Anstein Gjengedal said he was praised by Obama when they meet on Friday morning before leaving Grand Hotel to Oslo Gardermoen Airport. -Obama said "thank you for all the help", he expressed that he was satisfied with the job we have done, and so are the Secret Service.

Skål (pronounce as iskowl) to Alfred Nobel, said Barack Obama to the invited guests inside the Grand Hotel´s banquet after the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony. He learned a Norwegian word for cheers.

At the banquet, inside the Grand Hotel, with King Harald & Queen Sonja of Norway (standing behind the King), Nobel Institute Chairman Torbjørn Jagland and the Director of the Nobel Institute Geir Lundestad back them, on Thursday evening while lots of people are standing and waiting outside in hours.

No more space for over 10,000 people who are waiting to see Obama, the Nobel Peace winner this year at the balcony of Grand Hotel.

At last! The crowd could see Barack & Michelle when the couple came out on the popular balcony in Grand Hotel. A little humid and very cold to stand still with low temperature in the evening.

While the other thousands are on the other streets who could not come forward because it was too crowded already.

Michelle and Barack Obama waving to the crowd taking pictures of them and glad to see the Nobel Peace winner Obama, the first President who received the award so early while in his present position.

CNN journalist Jonathan Mann who loves interviewing the Nobel Peace Prize Winner yearly, sitting here to the left with the former US President and Nobel Peace Winner 2002 Jimmy Carter. He was not able to interview the US President because Obama has no time. But Jonathan Mann is present as CNN correspondent at Carl Johan street where the King´s Palace, the Norwegian Parliament, the Grand Hotel are located.

Climate Director in Greenpeace USA is not satisfied with US President Obama´s speech. He expected more.
The environmental movement thought Obama would focus more on climate change in his speech. While the other groups of demonstrators are on the way to Grand Hotel to tell their messages to US President Obama.

The former Norwegian Prime Minister years ago and the former World Health Organization Director Gro Harlem Brundtland with her husband, said Obama´s speech is different. -He mentioned so little about Climate Change. We will watch & listen to the Summit on Climate Change in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Here it is! Barack Obama with big smile holding his Nobel Peace award, a special made diploma each year and Alfred Nobel Gold Medal. The Chairman of Nobel Institute Torbjørn Jagland gave him this memorable and once in a life time award, with lots of demands and expectations in it in the long run.

They are shaking hands, thanking each other and congratulating the winner Obama. A man did something more. Nobel Institute Director Geir Lundestad lift his index finger and it looks like he gives Obama a small sermon.

The Prince of Bel-Air(US intertainment tv-program) in the middle.

In here, after the speeches, the Chairman of the Nobel Peace Committee Torbjørn Jagland gives the prestigious award to USA´s President Barack Obama with diploma & gold medal, and a cheque.

American actor Will Smith & his wife Jada Pinkett Smith and their daughter & son with them, are among the invited guests and also the hosts in the Nobel Peace Concert for Obama. Obama has chosen some artists who are going to perform at the evening´s concert, Friday Dec. 11, eventhough Barack and Michelle are leaving Friday morning. This surprised Norway who prepared and used lot of efforts for the Nobel Peace Prize this year.

Here they are marching in, with the King´s Guards playing the trumpets inside the Oslo City Hall on Dec. 10, 2009.

President Obama finally at the Grand Hotel after meeting the Prime Minister, the Royal Family at the King´s Palace, and the Press. Getting ready for the big event where he is receiving the Nobel Peace Prize 2009 with lots of invited people from different countries like head leaders, politicians, vips´, artists & singers.

This is at the Press Conference with Norway´s Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg. President Obama has no time for more questions than 1 from a Norwegian and 1 from an American journalists. What on earth ...? The reporters were very disappointed. Hundreds of journalists arrived in Oslo, Norway days before Obama landed. All 700 journalists were booked in SAS Hotel and prepared their guestions to Barack Obama. His visit is very expensive for the Norwegian population which is just more or less 4.5million people, the foreign journalists´ tour, accomodation and expenses, & companies in the country & abroad. And has no time, even some of the Nobel Peace Event programs made are canceled also.

Obama thanks the Nobel Peace Committee.

Obama signs in the guestbook with his wife Michelle, while the Nobel Peace Committee are present in the Nobel Institute in Oslo, Norway. The pictures of all the Nobel Peace Winners are displayed on the wall and now, also President Barack Obama´s.

Here are some of the 2,300 Policemen ordered to guard the city while Barack Obama is in Norway. This is not a daily sight in Oslo and Norway´s borders specially when giving a Nobel Peace Award. Missile shields are also in place for the first time. It costs Norway a lot of hundreds of million Norwegian Crowns due to security reasons.

Bullet-proof glass is mounted on Grand Hotel´s balcony where the couple is going to wave to the people waiting for Obama visit.

Cold weather felt Air Force One and the couple Obama in Oslo Gardermoen Airport, Thursday morning Dec.10.

Air Force One arrived in Oslo Gardermoen around 8:15am with President Barack and Michelle Obama. Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Nobel Committee member Kaci Kullmann Five, USA´s Ambassador to Norway Barry White were waiting at the airport to greet Barack and Michelle. With them is Marine One helicopter which is ready in Gardermoen for Obama and around 15 military airplanes.

Norway was turned upside down because of US President Obama visit. But nice having him here. He has a good sense of humor and easy to get along with if there is a good opportunity and time.
