The Norwegian Constitution Day is the National Day of Norway and is an official national holiday each year. Among Norwegians, the day is referred to as May Seventeenth, The National Day or Constitution Day.

The Constitution of Norway was signed in Eidsvoll on May 17 in the year 1814. The constitution declared Norway to be an independent nation.

In Oslo, children from all the city's schools gather to parade towards the Royal Palace, where they and the Royal Family exchange waves and greetings. All carries the National Flag on their hands.

Each year King Harald and Queen Sonja appear in a different areas in Oslo in the afternoon of this day, and this year it was Grünerløkka, from where these 2 pictures also are.
